This blog, on its surface, is about the changes and transformations taking place within the publishing industry. The emergence of electronic publishing, web-based publishing, and online communities will, I believe, define reading and writing in the next generation. This blog will track the trends and events that will shape the new boundaries of the industry.

The vision that the blog reflects has, in reality, much more to do with how these shift wills affect the foundation of the industry: narrative structure, editorial influence, and communities of readers. When all is said and done, it is up to writers and readers to decide what place serious literature and journalism have in a constantly changing culture, and the intent of this blog is to treat this process and its implications with candor and an open mind.
